Abstract

This paper primarily emphasized on describing the use of inquiry in natural science learning at primary school. This study also exposed the validity of inquiry strategy in natural science learning to improve primary schools students’ comprehension. Further, this present study employed a library research sourced from reputable journal articles in relation to the issue. Assisted inquiry strategy with 5E model became the one investigated. The model covered five phases namely, engaging, exploring, explaining, elaborating, and evaluating. Empirically, the inquiry strategy in natural science learning had proven improving the quality of learning and the learning achievement, particularly in conceptual learning

Abstract

This study aims to find out the difference between the model of problem-based learning and the mathematical-logical intelligence towards mathematics learning achievement. This study is a true experimental with specific design of post-test only control group design. The population of this study are all fourth grade students of primary schools in Bajawa sub district. Meanwhile, the sample in this study is determined through random sampling. The result of analysis, it is gained that the  learning achievement which used  problem based learning  model is higher than the mathematics learning achievement of the students with the conventional learning technique. The calculation from two ways ANAVA results in Fobs 1.793 with sig = 0.184, there is no significant effect of learning interaction model and mathematic-logical intelligence. Since there is no interaction, it also means that there is no significant effect of problem based learning collaborated with mathematic-logical intelligence to the students’ learning achievement.

Abstract

The study aims to describe the development of process design and validation of learning media 'friendly teacher e-flashcards' through empirical test on a limited group. 'Teacher friendly e-flashcards' is the media that was developed to meet the needs of bilingual learning at the level of early childhood education. The development of educational media is implemented in four stages: a preliminary study, development, evaluation, and reflection as well as documentation. At this stage of development, the content is prepared first and then proceed with the design of the program. Validation of the content and media experts shows that the 'teacher friendly e-flashcards' is being 'very good' for stimulation bilingual early childhood. Furthermore, empirical tests on a limited group (12 kindergarten teachers from four districts in Bali) gave judgment on the category of 'good'. Media 'teacher friendly e-flashcards' is a technology-based educational media that can be used in bilingual teaching of children of kindergarten in Bali. Further media development and empirical testing in a wider group strongly recommended for subsequent research

Abstract

This paper aims at investigating how video-assisted quantum learning design improves the learning achievement on psychomotor aspect. This paper is constructed of review of related literature, deep investigation on journal articles and related empirical studies. Quantum teaching is an instructional design which integrates arts and feasible goals in all subjects. Quantum teaching is a shift in learning condition where interaction and interrelationship are used to maximize learning condition. In its relation to improve learning desire, a motivated and interesting media is highly needed. Video as media is integrated in the quantum strategy to maximize learning achievement particularly on the psychomotor aspect. Video contains audio, visual, and messages in form of concepts, principle, procedure, theories, application to help learners understanding a particular topic. These forms of messages are all delivered through the audio and visualisation simultaneously.

Abstract

This present study aims at improving students’ achievement in Indonesian language through tai type cooperative learning with peer tutor in the academic year of 2015/2016. This study is a classroom action research and takes place at SMPN 1 Seririt from September to November 2015. It undergoes preliminary study to the action. A total number of 34 students consist of 16 female and 18 male are purposefully selected as the sample of this study. The researcher focuses on the evaluation on the first cycle and the second cycle after implementing technique. This study results in finding out that tai type cooperative learning with peer tutor has successfully improved students’ achievement on Indonesian language in the academic year of 2015/2016. This is reflected by the improvement of the students’ score with 85.29% of them have fulfilled the criteria of success in the first cycle. Nonetheless, there are 94.12% students who passed the criteria of success.

Abstract

This study aimed at finding the effect of sociodrama method influence upon students’ skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This study is a quasi-experiment which the data were analysed by using MANOVA. The samples were 75 students class IV of Public Elementary Schools in Cluster XII of Buleleng District. 37 students became the subject of experiment class and 38 students became the subjects in control class. The four data were collected by using language skill evaluation in form of written and performance test. The finding shows that: (1) There was a difference of listening skill between the students who followed the sociodrama method with students who followed conventional teaching method; (2) There was a difference of reading skill between the students who followed the sociodrama method with students who followed conventional teaching method; (3) There was a difference of writing skill between the students who followed the sociodrama method with students who followed conventional teaching method; (4) There was a difference of speaking skill between the students who followed the sociodrama method with students who followed conventional teaching method; (5) Simultaneously there was a difference of listening, reading, writing and speaking skills of the students who followed the sociodrama method with students who followed conventional teaching method.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the degree of correlation between students motivation and students’ learning achievement in natural science subject. The sample are selected through cluster random sampling by selecting 40% of all fifth graders in elementary schools in Golewa sub district, Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia. There are two instruments used to collect the data namely questionnaire about motivation and achievement test. The test consists of 22 items of multiple choice and the questionnaire consists of 20 questions. From the hypothesis testing, it is gained that the rxy = 0.899 which then being compared to the rtable with 5% of significance level and results in rtable= 0,320. Thus, since rxy> rtable or 0.899>0.320 the H1 is accepted. The degree of correlation between students’ motivation and the natural science learning achievement is r= 0.90 with 81% of determination coefficient. In conclusion, there is a high correlation between students’ learning motivation and the natural science learning achievement.

Abstract

This research aimed at developing character based language learning games in teaching English which can be used by teacher of junior high school grade VII as an alternative activities in the classroom. This research is R&D which used the design from Sugiyono (2011). The data in this study were collected through in depth interview, observation, and questionnaire distribution for both teacher and students. Then the data gained were analyzed qualitatively as the basis to develop the games and manual. As the result, 3 character based language learning games are developed; they are Word Bricks, Race Words dan Snake and Signs games. Validation from experts has been conducted and the scores given indicate that the product designed can be categorized as good games and excellent manual. It is also found that the product developed is categorized as good games and manual based on teacher’s score. After the implementation, it is shown that the students are motivated in learning English by using games. Besides, it is also found that students’ characters are starting to emerge in students who played the games.
